Renaissance if The Rotary Club of Punjai Puliampatti

The Rotary Club of Punjai Puliampatti had its conception way back in 1987. The Rotary Club of Punjai Puliampatti was started with the great efforts of erstwhile stalwarts namely K.O. Khandhar Muthu, M. Lingappa Gounder, K. M. Myilswamy, R. Palanisamy, R. Kuppusamy, Er. R. Palanisamy, Dr. A. Angusamy, K. Subbaian, Dr. S. Mani, Dr. P. A. Duraisamy and prominent of people of Punjai Puliampatti.

The club functioned well with regular weekly meetings and carried out a lot of useful projects with its Junior – Rotract Club. This club was well known among the clubs in Dist 320, not only for its services but also for its Punjai Puliampatti Famous Bulletin “THE PIED PIPER” edited by Rtn. K.O. Khandhar Muthu.

Due to various reasons the club ceased functioning and disappeared .

More than two decades later, many neighboring clubs tried their level best to bring back Rotary in Punjai Puliampatti but finally our mother club Rotary Annur succeeded. Our club was officially inaugurated on 25-12-2016 by the District Governor Rtn. Dr. Jeyaprakash Upadya.

(But we started our services well before the inauguration i.e on 15-08-2016 independence day and carried out successfully many useful projects in Schools, Hospital and Public Places)

Under the able leadership of the Charter President Rtn. P.K. Shanmugam,

Charter Secretary Rtn. T. Kumara Senthil Raja and the Charter Treasurer Rtn. T. Chandran, (the Rotary weekly meet free venue – Nava Hall owner) the branch flourished well and have brought many laurels to our branch.

Our office bearers organized family tours, inter branch meets and even international level meet at Bali Island.

The Health and Education are the prominent areas, where our projects were keenly concentrated and successfully carried out.

Above all we formed a Trust called – ‘Punjai Puliampatti Rotary Club Trust’ and bought a land to build our Dream Project “Rotary Old Age Home SARANAALAIYAM”.

Our trust headed by Rtn. PHF. Dr. M. Subramanian and the Secretary Rtn. PHF. P. K. Shanmugam with the enthusiastic teams of trustees is busy in construction work at present, after the Inaugural Stone Laying Ceremony on 31-01-2018.

The hard work of our branch under the guidance of Dr. M.S. and office bearers was duly recognized by the District Governor 3202 and our branch bagged 11 Rotary Awards including the Best Branch President Award to our Charter President Rtn. P.K. Shanmugam in the recent Rotary Award 2018 ceremony held at Platinum Mahal, Erode.

At this juncture, our branch fondly remembers and salutes the following Great Rotary Leaders who were very instrumental in forming, shaping and guiding us to this level.
